Job Offer for Project Manager

The European Choral Association - Europa Cantat is looking for a project manager for the project VOICE (see www.EuropeanChoralAssociation.org/voice), starting on September 1st 2012.The project manager will have to work from the General Secretariat of the association in Bonn, Germany, and must be fluent in German and English (further languages would be an asset). Proposal for future EU Culture Programme Creative Europe

Today, on 10^th May 2012, the Ministers for Culture of all the EU Member states met in Brussels to discuss, amongst other things, the EU’s new Creative Europe programme, which will come into effect in January 2014. The European Music Council, along with many other cultural actors including the European Choral Association - Europa Cantat, have come together in support for the we are more: act for culture in Europe campaign. So far more than 26.000 individuals and organisations from across Europe have supported the campaign with their signatures. They encourage the EU Ministers for Culture to commit themselves to the increased culture budget as of 2014. European Music Council elects new Board and Chair - Kaie Tanner re-elected

The members of the European Music Council including the European Choral Association - Europa Cantat elected a new Board at the annual meeting of the association in Istanbul in connection with the 2nd European Forum on Music. Jenny Grant from Youth Committee elected to EMC Working Group Youth

Jenny Grant (Ireland) from the Youth Committee of the Euroepan Choral Association - Europa Cantat travelled to the European Forum on Music in Istanbul last weekend to attend the conference and special sessions of the Working Group Youth of the European Music Council. We are happy to report that she was elected to the Working Group Youth for one year until April 2013, when the next elections will take place. Congratulations!

IFCM announces 2nd International Competition for Choral Composers

IFCM has announced the 2nd International Competition for Choral Composers. The winning composer will receive a Prize of 5.000 EUR and the winning composition will be performed by the Philippine Madrigal Singers and used in a workshop with Voces8. European Award for Choral Composers 2012 - Results

Jury selects 3 winners from choral compositions submitted from all over Europe / Two special mentions also awarded On April 16^th 2012 the Jury of the European Award for Choral Composers selected the winning compositions of the European Award for Choral Composers 2012 of the European Choral Association – Europa Cantat. 38 compositions from 11 countries were submitted to the competition. Three compositions by Pierre Chépélov (FR), Levente Gyöngyösi (HU) and Maarten Van Ingelgem (BE) were chosen as winners. Two further compositions by Pärt Uusberg (EE) and Uršula Jašovec (SI) received a special mention. We have added a new feature to our website: Under "Events 2012" you will now find a menupoint "Calendar of choral events". You can only travel during a specific period of time but have not decided about your country of destination, yet? Or you want to visit a certain country and want to know which choral events are offered there? Or maybe you want to find out more about special event or about a specific type of events? All this is possible now with this new online calendar. You can search for choral events in Europe and beyond, organised by the European Choral Association - Europa Cantat and by others. You can even submit your own international choral event >> here.

Project VOICE supported by European Union Culture Programme

We are happy to report that the European Union has decided to support the multiannual cooperation project “VOICE - Vision On Innovation for Choral music in Europe” under its Culture Programme. VOICE is a is a European project coordinated by the European Choral Association – Europa Cantat with 14 partners (choral organisations, festivals, cultural centres and universities) accross Europe. It is one of 14 multiannual cooperation projects selected by the European Union among 54 applications submitted in October 2011. It will run from June 2012 to May 2015 and has a total budget of almost 2,4 million EUR, with a subsidy from the European Union of almost 1,2 million EUR.
