Get to know Kaie

My name is Kaie Tanner, age 41, from Tallinn, Estonia.

I work as General Secretary of Estonian Choral Association and conductor Children Choir and Girls’ Choir of Estonian Radio.

When / where did you first come in contact with choral music?
I joined children’s choir, when I went to school at the age of 7, and sung until I started to conduct.

What is the greatest experience you’ve had inside the choral world?

I have seen in real, how music can bring people together and change the world  for the better. Estonia got its independence through singing, and in every 5 years, our song celebration unites all people living in Estonia – Estonians as well as other nation groups.

What is the greatest experience you’ve had outside the choral world?

I love to be in nature as much as possible – views to the peaks of Caucasus during mountain trip, sailing, walking by sea or skiing in forest give you unforgettable feeling of the beauty of nature.

Which activities of ECA-EC have you participated in, and what is your experience of it?

I have been in all EUROPA CANTAT festivals since Barcelona in 2003, several singing weeks and EUROPA CANTAT junior festivals, also some young conductor competitions. I like the educational purposes an friendly atmosphere of ECA-EC events – you can always feel, that music and musicians come first!

What is your favorite flavour ice cream?

Lemon and lime ice cream by Balbiino (Estonia). It is marvellous!
