Youth Committee on Video Awards

In 2014 VOXtase – the Youth Committee of Koor&Stem in and the Youth Committee of ECA-EC announced the 2nd European Choir Video Awards for 2015, with the winning videos to be presented at the EUROPA CANTAT Festival in Pécs. Due to funding cuts and the fact that there were already a number of video projects happening in the frame of the festival in Pécs, the two committees decided together with the team of the festival to merge the idea of the European Choir Video Awards with the two video projects of the festival.

Together they are now calling on choirs to join the two video projects launched by the festival:
·        Choir fun challenge: http://ecpecs2015.hu/en/choir-fun-challenge
·        Festival song: http://ecpecs2015.hu/en/festival-song---sing--sing-

The videos will be judged by the festival’s participants and a small committee including representatives of VOXtase and the Youth Committee of ECA-EC, so share your ideas and videos, and maybe your edition will be the festival’s favorite one! ;)

REVOICE! - Eurochoir at Expo in Milan

The Universal Expo will open its doors in Milan on May 1st, and we are proud to announce that some days later, a special group of singers from REVOICE!, the alumni choir of the Eurochoir (a project of the European Choral Association – Europa Cantat), will be performing there on the Day of Europe.

Picking up the theme of the Expo “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life”, IFCM, Feniarco and Associazione Musicale Jubilate have developed the project “Feeding Souls, Thanking for Food” dedicated to choral music. The project will consist of two threads, a concert season for the Italian pavilion, presenting 24 choirs from the different regions of Italy, and a series of international concerts bringing to Milan choral music from as many foreign Countries as possible. While June 2nd is a special day for the Italian Pavilion with the celebrations for the anniversary of the Italian republic, May 9th as Day of Europe will present REVOICE! – Eurochoir as special guest.

38 singers of previous Eurochoir sessions will be selected for this special project, and they will present a diverse European programme including a first performance of new work by Gunnar Eriksson, a song of peace composed on the basis of folksongs from different countries, woven together with the Hymn of Europe. The choir will sing during the first part of the concert under the direction of the 5 REVOICE! Conductors Fabien Aubé (FR), Balázs Porcsalmy (HU), Lucia Beserova (SK/ES), Taum Karni (IL) and Xavier García (ES), while the second part of the concert will be conducted by Alessandro Cadario (IT).

News from EUROPA CANTAT Pécs

The EUROPA CANTAT XIX Pécs 2015 Festival is Hung(a)ry for Composers and Publishers!

The festival is offering the possibility of a short showcase for each participating composer to present their music to an audience of conductors, publishers, music operators and other composers. The programme will be completed by lectures and workshops about the art of arranging and, by roundtables about topics like "Right management" or "Dealing with a choral commission". In the frame of the Composers showcase the applying composers will have two possibilities to present their music: either during a 5-minute showcase in the morning plenary session, or during informal conversations in the conductors’ and composers’ café during breaks. Every applying composer is invited to send some samples of his/her music (scores and/or recordings, all in digital format) to the Music Office of the Festival, to the following address: musicoffice@ecpecs2015.hu before May 31, 2015! The Music Commission of the Festival will then decide which modality of presentation is most suitable for the given composer.

Following the traditions of previous EUROPA CANTAT Festivals, the Festival EUROPA CANTAT XIX in Pécs will offer a platform for music publishers, choir organizations, festival and competition organizers as well as other partner, with different opportunities on how to promote their activities and products. Be present at the Music Expo Area which includes the opportunity to sell material! You will also be able to meet composers and conductors during the mornings, to publish adverts or add material to the bags of the participants. Publishers can suggest a reading session to be included in the programme for conductors and composers. You can check online and download the detailed description and conditions here! Application is possible via our online reservation form until 31st March, 2015!
