Summer is over, and it is time for us, both to look back and enjoy the memories of the EUROPA CANTAT Festival in Pécs (make sure to watch the new documentation video!) and of the other activities of ECA-EC of the last months, and to look ahead, to our presence at the chor.com, to the Conference, General Assembly and Membership Day and Helsinki (don’t forget to register by September 30th 2015!), and to our rich programme of activities in 2016.

We are also sharing information from our membership and from European/international associations in which we are members.

If you want to meet us in person, you can visit our booth at the chor.com October 1st to 4th 2015 in Dortmund, Germany, in the frame of which our Executive Board will also meet. Should you be planning to visit the Womex in Budapest at the end of October, you can pick up our programme 2016 at the booth of EMC (further details below).

Please forward this newsletter to your singing friends, if you work in a choral association, forward it to your members or translate the news which you find essential into your own language.

With best wishes

Memories of EUROPA CANTAT Pécs

Five thousand choir singers and many thousands of Pécs city residents sang together at the closing ceremony of the EUROPA CANTAT choir festival, on 1st August. 6000 guests came from more than 50 countries and turned Pécs into the capital of the choral world for a week, enjoying more than 130 concerts, discovering the secrets of the human voice in numerous music ateliers, and singing together with other visitors and inhabitants of Pécs at the Open Singings on Cathedral Square as well as in small common singing sessions in many concerts. Read more about the festival EUROPA CANTAT XIX in Pécs in the official Press Release >> here.

After the summer holidays, our communication team has produced a colourful video clip with impressions from the many rehearsals, concerts and fringe events of the Festival. Recall the greatest moments you experienced or discover the festival if you did not attend it yourself, by watching the video clip >> here.

If you are on facebook, you can watch numerous official pictures of the festival >> here and upload your own >> here.

Other activities in summer 2015

The EUROPA CANTAT festival in Pécs was not the only activity of ECA-EC this last summer.

Just before the festival, the Choralp Singing Week in Briançon invited choirs from Venezuela, Flanders/Belgium, Romania and Congo to join the individual participants of the Singing Week to sing with Jean Marie Puissant (FR) and Marleen de Bo (BE). You will find some pictures of the week >> here.

In September Feniarco hosted the European Academy for Young Conductors in Fano with Ragnar Rasmussen, dedicated to “Bach & Scandinavia - Understanding the music of our present time through the study of Bach’s music”.  Active participants had the great opportunity to practice every day with a pilot choir formed most of all by members of the Coro Giovanile Italiano, the National Youth Choir, and the best 10 conductors directed the choir during the final concert. You will find pictures on Facebook >> here.
