Today you are receiving our December end-of-year newsletter with which we also want to thank all volunteers in the choral world.

You will find out during which period our office will remain closed, you can watch our Season's Greetings video (which you will also find on Facebook and you are welcome to share) as well as the latest video produced by the Pécs team, and you can read the latest news on our Music Commission.

We would like to remind you that January 1st 2016 is the deadline for proposals for the new generation youth committee - we are looking forward to receiving your candidatures!

The year 2016 is awaiting us with a lot of interesting activities and we will tell you more about the opportunities and deadline in the January newsletter. Already now we would like to point to the Eurochoir session in July 2016 in San Vito al Tagliamento - please share this information with young singers around you!

Our office will be closed for holidays from Tuesday, December 22nd 2015 until Sunday, January 3rd 2016.

We wish Happy Holidays to all our readers - we are looking forward to being in touch with you again in 2016, and to meeting many more of the 37 million singers across Europe. 


January 1st deadline for new Youth Committee

Don't miss the deadline!

The ECA-EC Youth Committee consists of 6 members throughout Europe, who are in love with choral music. The Committee supports the Board, giving the organization a youth perspective whilst also providing a platform to learn.  You will find further details about the work of the Youth Committee and the profile of persons we are looking for in the Call for Applications.

Applications for the period 2016-2018 are now open. If you are an interested young person from the choral field (singer, conductor, composer or manager), no older than 27 in 2016, or if your organization / choir would like to suggest a young person, please send the application with the material described in the call to youthcommittee@eca-ec.org before 1st January 2016

New Music Commission completed

Recruiting for Eurochoir 2016

Our Italian member organisation FENIARCO is inviting young singers to the 2016 session of the Eurochoir which will take place in San Vito al Tagliamento, Italy, at the seat of the association.

Festival di Primavera

The Festival di Primavera is like a huge party for all young singing lovers: in Tuscany, from 14th to 16th April 2016 (children’s choirs) and from 20th to 23rd April 2016 (youth choirs) will take place an event that is worth living!

World Youth Choir 2016 Session announced

2016 World Youth Choir session
13/7 - 2/8/2016
Weikersheim, Germany
with concerts in Germany and Belgium

The session, organised by Jeunesses Musicales International, with the support of Jeunesses Musicales Germany and the World Youth Choir Foundation as well as the three patrons of the choir, will start with a rehearsal period 13/7 - 24/7/2016 in Weikersheim, Germany, where the first concert will take place on July 24th 2016. The concert tour is planned for 25/7 until the beginning of August (exact dates to be confirmed), with concerts in Germany and Belgium.

All singers who directly applied for participation in the 2014 World Youth Choir session or whose application was forwarded by a recruitment partner for this session, will have the opportunity to use the application material from last time if they are interested in applying for the 2016 session.

Recruitment information for all other singers interested in applying, as well as further information on the session, including confirmation of the conductor's name, will be published on www.worldyouthchoir.org in January 2016.

A big thanks to all volunteers!

On December 5th was International Volunteer Day. We thanked our local volunteers with a typical German "advent coffee" and buiscuits on December 4th and we sent a message to our international volunteers on December 5th.Let's use this occasion to thank all those volunteering to help the choral world go round - a BIG THANK YOU to you all in the name of the 37 Million singers in Europe.

EC Pécs salutes Zoltán Kodály

Pécs celebrated the birthday of the most performed composer of the festival EUROPA CANTAT XIX on the day which also marked the 5th anniversary of the festival's most prestigious location, the Kodály Centre. As part of the celebrations Péter Hoppál, Minister of State for Culture and Zsolt Páva, Mayor of Pécs put the last ceramic pieces on the event's commemorating artpiece "The joy of common singing".
